1851 and erected a building in Potato Valley that was sold after 11 years to
Perry township and used as a school building.
The church in Fremont was built in 1865.
Fremont was part of the five-point Richfield charge (Ebenezer,
Freeburg, Fremont, Mt. Zion, Richfield) of the East German Conference until the
charge was transferred to the Allegheny Conference by the General Conference of
1901. The congregation and

Brief History:
The exact date of the first Methodist
preaching or building is not known. When
the Central Pennsylvania Conference was organized in 1869, the Selinsgrove –
Shamokin Dam charge was established as one of the charges in the Northumberland
District. After the original frame
church was destroyed, with a great number of other buildings, in the holocaust
of October 1874, a new brick building was erected on Water Street. Land at the present location was secured in
1960, and the parsonage was dedicated October 22, 1961. The sanctuary at the site was occupied in May
1966, and the Christian education addition was consecrated October 7, 1979.
