Brief History:
     The building was severely damaged by fire on Palm Sunday 4/18/1943.  The pastor having been reassigned, the district superintended came to lead the service and – seeing the fire – moved the services to the court house.  The new pastor led the congregation is a rebuild, which was dedicated the week of November 7-14, 1943, at which time the building was renamed Aldersgate.

     The Strassers/Strawsers United Brethren congregation was established in 1856 and worshipped in a log building west of Oriental 1856-1900.  The log structure was replaced by the present building in 1900.

Brief History:
     This brick building was dedicated in December 1893 at a cost of $5200 – including “memorial windows, arched ceiling, tower and bell, semicircular pews, and hot air furnace.”
