Brief History:
Milton was taken up as a missionary
project of the Central Pennsylvania Conference in 1867. An old Lutheran church on Mahoning Street was
purchased for $2500. That building was
sold in 1870 to purchase a lot on the corner of Lower Market Street and Church
Alley that contained a log house which was remodeled into a church. In 1874 that structure was torn down and
replaced by 74x50 frame church building dedicated 1/31/1875 by Bishop Rudolph
Dubbs. That building was destroyed by
the great Milton fire of 1880 and replaced by a two-story brick church
building. That building was temporarily
lost to the congregation during the denominational split of 1894, but was
eventually re-purchased from the Evangelical Association. A more commodious structure was erected on
the site and dedicated 2-7-1897 by Bishop Wesley Stanford.
On 9-9-1928 the congregation assembled for
the last time in the 1897 building and marched to the present location at Lower
Market Street and Garfield Avenue. The
old building was sold to the highest bidder.
The name was changed from First to St. Andrews in 1979. The social hall and gymnasium were added in
1991.

This class was organized in an old log school house 1852 by Rev. Joseph A. Ross. Services were held in the school
house until 1860, when land was given by Joseph Campbell for both church
and cemetery. That church building was
erected in 1861 and used until 1937. when services there were
discontinued. In 1945, the church was
re-opened under the leadership of Rev. Martin Hopkins. As this nearly 100 year old
frame building began to show its age, it was decided to erect a new structure. A final worship service was held on Easter Sunday , April 6, 1968, and the building was razed.
The congregation worshiped in the
Community Hall until April 1960, when it was possible to worship in the
basement of the new structure. The
completed building was formally dedicated July 30, 1061.
