Pleasant or EUB church at Nauvoo.  The church assets were divided between the Morris and Mt. Pleasant churches, according to the percentage of membership going to each church.  The Plank church never had pews, but the people sat in high-backed kitchen-type chairs.  When the church closed, the chairs were taken to the Morris Church.  The fate of the other items of interest from the church, the pump organ and the elaborate kerosene hanging lights, is not known.

Brief History:
Subscriptions to erect a Methodist building in Tioga were gathered beginning in 1826.  The frame for a building was erected in 1827, and it remained in that condition until completed in 1842.  That building, which fronted “Meeting House Alley,” was destroyed by fire in 1871.  The building pictured above at the right was erected in 1872.  The 1972 flood damaged many area church buildings and called for a realistic re-evaluation of the mainline Protestant churches.  In nearby Lawrenceville, the Presbyterian and Methodist churches combined to form a Methodist congregation.  In Tioga, the Presbyterians and Methodists united to form a Presbyterian congregation.  The original plan was for the merged congregation to use the Methodist building, but further examination revealed the Methodist structure had sustained more flood damage than was originally noted.  The merged congregation now uses the former Presbyterian building, and the former Methodist structure was torn down.

Final disposition:
